In this article you will learn: How to set up your Wi-Fi network for the first time, and how to change your network name or password in the Customer Portal.
OVERVIEW
When you first sign in to your Bolt Customer Portal, a pop-up will prompt you to create a network name and Wi-Fi password. Your network name (also called an SSID) is the name you select in your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
If you are stuck, contact Customer Support to help you set up your network name and password with you.
steps
Set up your network for the first time
- 1Sign in to your Bolt Customer Portal. Use mobile data or another internet connection to access the portal before setup is complete.
- 2Open the setup pop-up. If you previously skipped it, go to Plan & Service and find the Wi-Fi Network section to complete setup.
- 3Create your network name and password. Choose a name you will recognize and a strong Wi-Fi password. Follow any requirements shown in the portal, then confirm your details to complete setup.
- 4Save your password. On the “Your new Wi-Fi password” screen, write it down or store it securely before closing the screen. For security, the password will not be shown again.
- 5Use or print your QR code. Scan the code with a phone or tablet to join your Wi-Fi network, or select Print with QR code to keep a printed copy. Then select Done, I’ve noted it.
- 6Connect your devices. In each device’s Wi-Fi settings, select the network name you created and enter your password, or scan the QR code on devices that support it.
change your network name
- 1Sign in to your Bolt Customer Portal. Go to the Plan & Service tab.
- 2Find the Wi-Fi Network section. Locate Network name (SSID).
- 3Select Edit. Enter your new network name and follow the prompts to save your change.
- 4Reconnect your devices. Select the new network name in each device’s Wi-Fi settings. Use your existing password unless you also changed it.
Change or replace a forgotten Wi-Fi password
If you forget your Wi-Fi password, you can create a new one in the portal. Your existing password will remain hidden.
- 1Sign in to your Bolt Customer Portal. If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi, use mobile data or another internet connection.
- 2Go to Plan & Service. Find the Wi-Fi Network section.
- 3Select Set new beside Wi-Fi password. Create a new password and follow the prompts to confirm the change.
- 4Save the new password before closing the confirmation screen. Write it down, store it securely, or select Print with QR code. The new password will not be shown again. When you have saved it, select Done, I’ve noted it.
- 5Reconnect your devices. Use the new password or scan the new QR code. Any printed copy of your old password or QR code should be replaced.
After changing your details: Devices connected to your Wi-Fi may disconnect. Reconnect them using your updated network name and password. Remember to update smart TVs, printers and other connected devices too.
