In this article you will learn: what internet equipment is included with your Bolt subscription, what you need to connect your devices, and when you may want to use an Ethernet cable.
You do not need to purchase a modem or router to use Bolt Internet. We will provide the equipment required for your service.
Depending on your building and unit, the equipment may already be installed, be shipped to you with setup instructions, or be installed by a technician.
What is included
Your unit’s router provides:
- Wi-Fi 6 for fast, reliable wireless connections
- Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi
- Ethernet ports for wired connections
- Support for multiple connected devices
Your Wi-Fi network name and password can be found on the router label.
What do I need
All you need is a Wi-Fi-capable device, such as a:
- Phone or tablet
- Laptop or desktop computer
- Smart TV
- Gaming console
- Smart-home device
Select your Bolt Wi-Fi network from the device’s settings and enter the password shown on the router label.
Do I need an Ethernet cable
An Ethernet cable is optional. A wired connection can provide more consistent performance for devices that remain in one place, such as gaming consoles, desktop computers and smart TVs.
Connect one end of the cable to your device and the other to an available LAN port on the router.
Do I need a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system
Most residents will not need additional Wi-Fi equipment. If you notice weak Wi-Fi in part of your unit, contact Bolt Support before purchasing an extender or mesh system. We can help determine whether the issue is related to router placement, your device or your connection.
Important
The router is part of your unit’s Bolt Internet setup. Please do not remove it or perform a factory reset. If you are having trouble connecting, restart the router or contact Bolt Support for help.
