In this article you will learn: how to safely restart your router and other Bolt equipment when troubleshooting a connection issue.
Restarting your equipment, sometimes called power cycling, can resolve temporary connection and Wi-Fi issues. Restarting is different from performing a factory reset.
Steps
- 1Locate your Bolt router and any separate modem or optical network terminal (also called an ONT).
- 2Unplug the power cable from your router.
- 3If you have a separate modem or ONT, unplug its power cable. Do not disconnect the fibre or other data cables.
- 4Wait at least 30 seconds.
- 5Plug the modem or ONT back in first.
- 6Wait up to five minutes for its lights to stabilize.
- 7Plug your router back in.
- 8Wait up to five minutes for the Wi-Fi network and internet connection to return.
- 9Reconnect your device and test the connection.
If your equipment does not power back on or the connection does not return, contact Bolt Support.
